New Year's 2013 DUI Checkpoint Update for the Kansas City Metro Area.
We expect there to be lots of activity both the weekend before New Year's and on NYE itself. Here is what we have heard so far:
1. Overland Park Police Dept. has announced that they will be conducting a DUI Saturation Patrol on Dec. 31st, 2012 into Jan. 1st, 2013 from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. A DUI saturation patrol is different from a physical checkpoint location, the saturation patrol is essentially more officers out on the road specifically looking for signs of impairment to arrest people for DUI's. The City of Overland Park reported that so far this year of 2012 they have charged 645 people with DUI, you don't want to add to those numbers...
2. Olathe Police Dept. has announced that they will also be conducting a DUI Saturation Patrol on NYE.
