Talking Urinals at Bars to prevent DUI's and Drunk Driving?
The State of Michigan has deployed a new tool in it's war against drunk driving and DUI's. They have started distributing talking urinal cakes to bars in the Detroit and Wayne County area.
Bars can have the urinal cakes play a recorded message to remind men who step up to the urinals to call a cab or a friend, if needed, to get home safely.
"Not only do we want to turn some heads and get people talking, we hope everyone takes the message to heart," Michael L. Prince, director of the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning, said in a statement.
The urinal cakes are part of a statewide education and enforcement effort to prevent DUI's.
"At first it may be seen as humorous, but the seriousness of the message will stand out and encourage patrons to find a safe ride home," said Michigan Licensed Beverage Association Executive Director Scott T. Ellis.
Imagine walking up to a urinal and then having the urinal cake talk to you.... Have to give them credit for thinking outside of the box on this one.
