Weekend DUI Checkpoint Update: 6/7 - 6/10
Surprise, surprise.... More DUI checkpoints this weekend.
Johnson County police agencies have announced they will conduct DUI sobriety checkpoints and DUI saturation patrols this weekend.
-Mission police said they will work with several law enforcement agencies to watch for DUI drivers Friday night into early Saturday morning. The DUI checkpoint will be held at an undisclosed location in Mission, police will screen drivers for signs of possible impairment. Drivers exhibiting signs of intoxication will be tested further using field sobriety tests. Those suspected of driving under the influence will be arrested.
-The Overland Park police said they will conduct a saturation patrol on Friday. The effort will begin at 10 p.m. Friday and continue until 2 a.m. Saturday. During a DUI saturation patrol, a special team of officers drives throughout the city looking for drivers that are DUI. It is different from a checkpoint in the fact that there isn't an actual checkpoint, there are just more officers out that are specifically looking to hand out DUI's.
- Also, Kansas City Missouri Police Dept. announced they will have a DUI checkpoint sometime this weekend at an undisclosed location, because a pedestrian was killed last weekend by a driver who's B.A.C. was 3 times over the legal limit.
We will update you with more information as we receive it. Have a safe weekend.
