Kansas CIty DUI Checkpoint Update: 2/8/13 - 2/10/13
Here's what we have heard so far:
1. Overland Park Police have announced that they will be conducting a DUI Saturation Patrol on Friday Feb. 8th, 2013 starting at 10:00 p.m. and running until 2:00 a.m. on Saturday. They also released this statement: "The officers assigned to the Saturation Patrols have significant experience in DUI apprehension. The patrols will also include officers specially trained as Drug Recognition Experts (DRE). An officer certified as a DRE has received extensive training in identifying a driver who is under the influence of prescription or illegal drugs." It's important to note that a DUI Saturation Patrol isn't a checkpoint of police at one location, the saturation patrol means there will be multiple officers out on patrol specifically looking to pull people over for Driving Under the Influence in Overland Park. If they do suspect you of being impaired it is likely they will ask you to perform field sobriety testing, and possibly other chemical tests to attempt to measure your BAC.
