To be named to the Rising Stars list, an attorney must pass through Super Lawyers' multiphase selection process and be under 40 years of age or have been in practice for 10 years or less. Only 2.5% of attorneys in the state are awarded the distinction, and this is Robert's sixth year in a row being chosen.
The rigorous Rising Stars selection process includes the following steps:
- Nominations: An attorney is considered through formal nominations by their peers, through Super Lawyer's research process, or informal nominations by those not eligible to submit formal nominations. Attorneys cannot nominate themselves, nor can they campaign for nominations.
- Independent research: Super Lawyers' research team reviews each candidate and evaluates them on 12 indicators. The factors examined include, but are not limited to, verdicts/settlements, experience, honors and awards, pro bono work and community service, and education and employment history.
- Peer review: The highest scoring candidates from the previous two steps are invited to serve on Super Lawyers' blue ribbon review panel. They evaluate other nominees in their practice areas.
- Final selection: The attorneys with the highest overall points are considered for selection. Those meeting the criteria for Rising Stars are chosen to that list.
